The Mandalorian and Grogu has been announced by Disney and LucasFilm and is on their to-do list for upcoming Star Wars movies. The Mandalorian and Grogu brings the two to the big screen for the first time and will be directed by Jon Favreau. We know Favreau from a variety of hit titles including Iron Man, and it was Favreau along with Dave Filoni who brought both The Mandalorian (Din Djarin) and Grogu (aka “Baby Yoda” or “The Child”) to Disney+, thus reviving the Star Wars brand after Kathleen Kennedy’s lack of vision or a plan in episodes 7, 8 and 9.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is expected to tie up any loose ends between The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka, although some speculation is that it could be recapping the Disney+ in an effort to make the Star Ward shows on Disney+ more mainstream to help subscriptions. It is also possible that this movie’s purpose is to set up Grogu’s next big arc by bringing back the Jedi order with Rey or setting him up as the next great Mandalorian force user, like Tarre Viszla.
The Mandalorian and Grogu does not have an official release date as of yet, but it is rumored to be released in May of 2026.
