Overcharge is the new stat system for Era Units and Loaned Units in Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. Instead of waiting on mod drops, you pick stats directly and can move your points around for free at any time. Capital Games detailed Overcharge in its October 27, 2026 community update. A release date hasn’t been announced yet.
This page is your hub for Overcharge on this site: how the system works, how it fits alongside mods, and links to Overcharge builds for each Era as they’re published.
Why Overcharge exists
Capital Games was direct about it. Mods are great for legacy modes, but relying on mod drops doesn’t work when an Era only lasts 12 weeks. By the time you’ve farmed and sliced the right set for a new Era Unit, the Era is close to over. Overcharge gives Era content its own stat layer with no farming and no random rolls.
How Overcharge works
- Who can use it: every Era Unit and Loaned Unit, from its Unit Details screen, as soon as you unlock it.
- Six stat options per unit: each Era has six stat options to choose from for each character. Those options can change from one Era to the next to push different strategies.
- Overcharge Points: you spend points to unlock stat boosts.
- Overcharge Level: your level goes up as you play normally, and each level adds points.
- Shared roster pool: raising your Overcharge Level adds points for all your Era and Loaned Units, and every unit gets the same number to spend. Building one character never takes points from another.
- Free respec: you can reallocate points on any unit, at any time, at no cost.
- Recommended builds: the game suggests one to three stat options for each Era and Loaned Unit if you’d rather not theorycraft.
- End of the Era: leftover Overcharge converts into Mod Materials.
Overcharge vs mods
Overcharge doesn’t replace mods. It covers the units and modes mods were never a good fit for, and mods keep doing everything else.
| Overcharge | Mods | |
|---|---|---|
| Applies to | Era Units and Loaned Units during their Era | Your whole roster |
| Where it matters | Era modes such as Coliseum and Era Arena | Grand Arena, Territory Wars, Territory Battles, Conquest, raids |
| How you get it | Overcharge Level rises through normal play | Mod drops, then leveling and slicing |
| Changing a build | Free, any time | Moving and upgrading mods costs resources |
| After the Era | Leftovers convert to Mod Materials | Stay on the unit |
The key point for planning: when an Era ends, its Era Units become legacy units, and from then on they run on mods. Mara Jade, The Ronin and Darth Jar Jar spend the Era of Myths & Legends on Overcharge, then head into Grand Arena, Territory Wars and the Droid Destruction raid on mods. Every Era unit effectively has two builds: an Overcharge build during its Era and a mod build after it.

Where Overcharge matters
Coliseum. Mods are already inactive in Coliseum, where power comes from Era Levels. Overcharge adds a stat layer you control on top of that.
Era Arena. The new daily PvP mode for Era content. With free respecs, you can tune your squad’s stats to each opponent instead of locking in one build.
The new Crit Defense stat
Crit Defense arrives with the same release. It works against Crit Damage the way Crit Avoidance works against Crit Chance: it’s subtracted from the attacker’s Crit Damage before a critical hit is multiplied. The Crit Damage multiplier can’t drop below 1.0, so a crit never deals less than a normal hit.
That matters for attackers built around Crit Damage, which includes much of the Myths & Legends roster. Mara Jade Skywalker’s unique adds 30% Crit Chance and Crit Damage, and The Ronin’s unique adds 50% Crit Damage. Capital Games hasn’t said which units or Overcharge options will carry Crit Defense; we’ll update this section when it’s live.

Overcharge tips
Start from the recommendation. The in-game suggestions give you one to three stat options per unit. Use them as a baseline, then adjust once you know which boss or opponent you’re facing.
Respec for the fight. Reallocating is free, so a Coliseum boss that punishes one stat and an Era Arena opponent that punishes another don’t need to share a build. Try a setup in Training Mode before you commit your best attempt.
Keep modding Era units anyway. Mods don’t matter during the Era, but they do the day it ends. If an Era unit is part of your Grand Arena or raid plans, have its mods ready before the Era closes.
Overcharge FAQ
Does Overcharge replace mods?
No. Overcharge is only for Era Units and Loaned Units during their Era. Mods still power your roster everywhere else, including Era units once they become legacy units.
Does it cost anything to change my Overcharge build?
No. You can reallocate points on any unit at any time for free.
Do I need to farm anything for Overcharge?
No. Your Overcharge Level rises through normal play, and the points are shared across all your Era and Loaned Units.
What happens to Overcharge when the Era ends?
Leftover Overcharge converts into Mod Materials, and Era units move to mods as legacy units. The next Era can offer different stat options.
When does Overcharge come out?
Capital Games hasn’t announced a date yet. This page will be updated when one is set.
