The newest Journey Guide character is here in the form of Baylan Skoll from the Ahsoka series. This Epic Confrontation is entitled One Must Destroy in Order to Create and was first available on Halloween, December 31, 2024. True to the poor management of SWGoH, the event took place in the middle of another tedious Territory Battle all while they run one of the most annoyingly time-consuming Raids in the game’s history. A special thanks to the people at EA Capital Games who clearly do not play their own game with the same level of seriousness as those of us who keep the lights on in their building. And with that, we look at the unlocking of Baylan Skoll in SWGoH.
My characters to unlock Baylan Skoll:
- Shin Hati – Relic 7 – 29,907 power
- Marrok – Relic 7 – 29,862 power
- Morgan Elsbeth – Relic 7 – 28,867 power
First Battle
Using a Gear 13 Baylan Skoll with required event units for Shin Hati, Marrok and Morgan Elsbeth, it appears my mods and characters are the actual ones used. After losing Morgan Elsbeth early, I fight on, trying to weaken Padawan Sabine Wren without much luck. I get a Stun on her and remove her protection, but continuing to focus on killing her firstly proves to be a waste of my time. Instead I go after Ahsoka and finish her off, allowing me to then put 100% focus on Sabine, which works in time. I finally kill her off with 12 stacks of Armor Shred on Baylan, but get the win without sweating it out too much to earn 110 shards of Baylan Skoll.
With this having been said, a bit of further research finds that Sabine gets massive buffs if Ahsoka is killed first. So while it seems that I got luck above, I am not suggesting you try the same strategy, as I have failed with below…
After the remod – characters used to unlock Baylan Skoll:
- Shin Hati – Relic 7 – 30,478 power – Offense & Health mods – 322 speed
- Marrok – Relic 7 – 30,462 power – Offense & Health mods – 309 speed
- Morgan Elsbeth – Relic 7 – 29,335 power – 2 Defense & 1 Health mod sets – 314 speed
Second Battle
After putting significantly better mods on Shin Hati and Marrok, I head into the second battle and have a better idea of how to fight this time, aiming to knock out Ahsoka as soon as possible. When Ahsoka gets the undispellable Retribution, I then target Sabine when possible, but I lose Baylan just before killing Ahsoka. I then lose Morgan Elsbeth as well, and now have a 2 vs 1 with Shin and Marrok vs Sabine and that is not enough firepower for the win as Sabine gains too much firepower when Ahoska dies.
Fighting for a second time, I upgrade the mods on Morgan Elsbeth significantly and head in again, but real life is getting in the way so I will update this as soon as possible.
After reviewing my mods more closely, including getting a specific turn order, I am back at it on Friday. I now have Shin at 322 speed, Morgan at 314 and Marrok at 309 to get their turn order optimized. Using Shin Hati’s 3rd ability, I start out with a Stun on Sabine, then Morgan lands Armor Shred and Marrok uses his special as Ahsoka buffs up. Avoiding Ahsoka here is important to avoid her ramping up damage. I continue hitting Sabine and save Morgan’s middle ability for when Sabine goes Stealth, and when she does I dispel it and focus again on Sabine. I continue to add hits to Sabine and try to increase the Armor Shred stacks, saving Baylan and Morgan’s dispel abilities for when she goes Stealth again, and shortly after landing a 3rd Armor Shred I finish Padawan Sabine Wren off. From here it is about controlling Ahsoka as best as I can with this 4 vs 1 showdown, and continuing to get her health down. Reading the abilities here is very important – do not just spam buttons as we all so many times do. A little bit of patience and you will gain another 110 shards and move on to the 3rd battle.
Third Battle
This will be different, something unique, right? Um, no. This is the same battle, only a third time through, and the strategy is basically the same. Go for Sabine first, eliminate her, drop Armor Shred on Ahsoka, beat her and unlock Baylan Skoll.
