As more characters are added to SWGoH, we cannot ignore how older characters are impacted and how the game continues to evolve. Today I start the Best Mods for Master Qui-Gon, the newest character in Galaxy of Heroes. Years ago I launched Gaming-fans.com and started the “best mods” series of articles which turned out to be what put the site on the radar of the community and with EA Capital Games. As a member of the SWGoH GameChangers, the Website got even more attention as I attempted to expand into other areas of the game and even other games, constantly struggling to find the balance in the Force needed to do so. While my days with Gaming-fans.com are now behind me, I am working to keep building on what I saw as my strength all along – the “best mods in SWGoH” series as today I review the Best Mods for Master Qui-Gon in SWGoH.
Here is the SWGoH explanation of Master Qui-Gon: “A bold Support willing to take a chance to save and assist his allies.” Meant to be used alongside Queen Amidala and Padawan Obi-Wan, Master Qui-Gon is a strong Support character who can apply Defense Up, Heal Over Time and Protection Over Time buffs, dispel enemy debuffs and Expose them, cleanse his team and enhance his teammates. Much like Padawan Obi-Wan, when used under a Queen Amidala lead, expect Master Qui-Gon to be quite difficult to kill and annoying to face.
A quick note. If I am too wordy for you, as I have learned I can be a bit a bit long-winded at times, check out the new Best Mods for Master Qui-Gon TL;DR that I have added below.
Main Mod Stats to focus on…
For Master Qui-Gon he is a Support character and his kit does just that – he supports his teammates by enhancing and cleansing them, dispelling enemy buffs and debuffing them and can apply Defense Up, Heal Over Time and Protection Over Time buffs that enhance what Queen Amidala’s leadership sets out to do – make the team tanky as heck. The devs state that “Defense and Speed helps Master Qui-Gon to support his allies efficiently and to stay in the battlers longer.” Given how he gains Defense Up with his basic and +100% Defense with his first Special, the addition of more Defense seems like a good choice, despite the fact that Defense mods are so rarely used in SWGoH. With a base Speed of 185, a Speed set will do a lot here so I like where the devs are on these recommendations. Potency will help the debuffs stick, and MQG has a few debuffs that he can apply to help support his team. Speed is important as you want Master Qui-Gon up around 300 speed and faster than POW but not as fast as Queen Amidala in most situations.
For the Naboo Raid, Master Qui-Gon seems to work best modded for high offense to boost his Special Damage, and you want him to be faster than POW (as mentioned above). After my remod of MQG I have him just under 330 speed, over 100% potency and over 12k Special Offense.
Which Mod Sets to use & Dev Recommendations
As I have said many times before, the developers and I tend to agree on new characters. For Master Qui-Gon, the recommendations are a Speed set and a Defense set. Given the way Queen Amidala’s leadership works I feel like this makes perfect sense. After using him daily in his unlock event I can say that Master Qui-Gon will fit nicely with Padawan Obi-Wan and of course, Queen Amidala. Here is what I am recommending for the best mods for Master Qui-Gon:
-
- Transmitter (Square) – The Transmitter mod always has a primary focus on offense. For Master Qui-Gon, you want to use a SPEED mod here and be sure to closely look at the secondary stats to ensure that you get a heavy secondary focus on speed, health, defense and potency.
- Receiver (Arrow) – The Receiver mod can have a primary focus on several stats including speed, critical avoidance, accuracy, health, protection, defense and offense. For Master Qui-Gon, you want to use a SPEED mod here with a primary focus on speed and a secondary focus on defense, potency and health.
- Processor (Diamond) – The Processor is always going to have a primary focus on defense. For Master Qui-Gon, you want to use a DEFENSE mod here with a secondary focus on speed, defense, health and potency.
- Holo-Array (Triangle) – The Holo-Array is a very specialized mod that can have a primary focus on critical chance, critical damage, health, protection, offense and defense. For Master Qui-Gon, you want to use a SPEED mod here with a primary focus on Health or Defense and a secondary focus on speed, defense, potency and health.
- Data-Bus (Circle) – The Data-bus mod always has a primary focus on either health or protection, and Master Qui-Gon benefits a bit more from a high Health stat, so use a DEFENSE mod with a Health primary. The secondary focus stats should be speed, defense, health and potency.
- Multiplexer (Plus) – The Multiplexer (plus or cross) mod can have a primary focus on potency, tenacity, health, protection, defense offense. For Master Qui-Gon, you want to use a SPEED mod here with a focus on Defense or Health, making sure to have your mod sets complete. For the secondary stats, look to add speed, defense, health and potency.
