Era Arena is the new PvP mode in Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes built around Era Units and Loaned Units, and it replaces Squad Arena as the game’s main daily arena for Era content. Capital Games laid out the full rules in its October 27, 2026 community update. A release date hasn’t been announced yet.
This page is your hub for everything Era Arena on this site. It covers how the mode works today, and each section below will link to a dedicated guide as the mode goes live and the meta settles.
Era Arena rules at a glance
- Squads: a full five-character squad with at least one Era Unit, filled out with Loaned Units.
- Faction tag sharing: Era Units share select faction tags with the other units in the squad.
- Opponents: a board of six opponents, split into Dangerous, Risky and Secure picks. Stronger opponents offer bigger rewards.
- No cooldowns: you can attack again right away.
- Scoring: only your best battle of the day counts, and you earn banners based on that battle.
- Defense: losing on defense never costs you banners.
- No score cap: push your squad as far as it will go.
- Omicrons and Datacrons: omicrons are not active. Datacrons work on offense but not on defense, at least at launch.
- Leaderboards: Era Arena uses Era Shards, the same shards as Coliseum, and they reset each Era.
Building an Era Arena squad
Every Era Arena squad starts with at least one of the current Era’s units. The rest of the slots come from that Era’s Loaned Units, the same pool you use in Coliseum. Faction tag sharing is the twist: because your Era Unit shares select faction tags with the units around it, squads that wouldn’t line up anywhere else in the game can work here.
Stats for Era Units and Loaned Units come from Overcharge, the new Era-only stat system. You choose from six stat options per unit, and respeccing is free, so you can rebuild a squad around a different opponent without losing anything. See our Overcharge guide for how points and stat options work.
Choosing your opponent
Each time you look at the board, you get six opponents sorted into three risk levels: Dangerous, Risky and Secure. Harder fights pay more if you win them. Since only your best battle of the day counts and there are no cooldowns, the straightforward approach is to take the Dangerous fight first. If it goes badly, you still have the Risky and Secure picks to fall back on, and the failed attempt doesn’t hurt your score.
Era Shards: shared with Coliseum
Era Arena uses the Era Shard system that Coliseum introduced with the 10th Anniversary update. You’re placed in a new shard at the start of each Era, and Era Arena and Coliseum use the same one, so the players you compete with on the Coliseum leaderboard are the same players on the Era Arena leaderboard. Shards reset when the Era ends.
Era Arena rewards
- Daily rewards: claim your daily rank rewards from the leaderboard at the end of each Era day. If you forget, they’re delivered to your inbox the next time you log in.
- Weekly rewards: rank rewards go straight to your inbox at the end of each Era week, every Tuesday at 11 a.m. PT.
- End of the Era: all final daily and weekly rewards go to your inbox.
Coliseum is moving to the same claim system, so both Era modes will pay out the same way.
Arena Currency and the Era Arena shipment
With Era Arena, Squad Arena, Fleet Arena and Grand Arena currencies are replaced by a single Arena Currency. Your existing balances convert at these rates:
| Old currency | Converts to Arena Currency at |
|---|---|
| Squad Arena Currency | 0.5 per unit |
| Fleet Arena Currency | 1.0 per unit |
| Grand Arena Currency | 1.5625 per unit |
Arena Currency caps at 100,000. The old shipment tabs are retired, and their items move into a new Era Arena shipment with bulk purchase options. Capital Games says more shipment details are coming because it’s still in development.
Check your balances before the switch. Grand Arena Currency converts at the best rate, and 64,000 of it on its own fills the 100,000 cap. Capital Games hasn’t said what happens to a converted total above the cap, so if you’re close, spending some down first is the safe play.
What happens to Squad Arena
Squad Arena is retiring. Your past Squad Arena wins stay on your profile as Legacy Squad Arena Wins, and quests are updated to match:
- The daily quest asks for one Era Arena attempt.
- Episode quests accept either Fleet Arena or Era Arena wins.
Squad Arena’s other job, testing teams and Datacrons, moves to the new Training Mode. Fleet Arena isn’t going anywhere.

Era Arena tips
Test before you attack. Training Mode lets you fight any squad you can build from your own roster with nothing on the line. Use it to check a lineup before you spend your best attempt of the day.
Use the free respec. Overcharge reallocations cost nothing, so tune your stats to the opponent you’re about to fight rather than settling on one build for the whole Era.
Think beyond the Era. When an Era ends, its units become legacy units and go back to using mods in Grand Arena, Territory Wars and raids like Droid Destruction. Our Mods in SWGoH hub covers those builds.
Era Arena FAQ
When does Era Arena come out?
Capital Games hasn’t announced a date. The rules were detailed on October 27, 2026, and this page will be updated when a date is set.
Is Squad Arena going away?
Yes. Era Arena replaces it, your old wins move to your profile as Legacy Squad Arena Wins, and Training Mode takes over as the place to test teams.
Can I use my regular roster in Era Arena?
No. Squads use the current Era’s Era Units and Loaned Units, with at least one Era Unit on every team.
Does a loss on defense hurt my rank?
No. Defense losses never cost you banners. Your score comes from your best attack of the day.
Is Era Arena connected to Coliseum?
They share Era Shards, so you compete against the same players in both, and both use the same daily and weekly reward claim system.
