The newest Galactic Legend in Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes has arrived with The Mandalorian and Grogu, and it is time to review mods for the father-and-son duo. During my time with Gaming Fans I started the “best mods” series of articles, which turned out to be what put the site on the radar of the community and of EA Capital Games. While my days with Gaming Fans are well behind me, I have been writing mod guides like this one since mods were added to SWGoH in 2018, and after more than a decade with this game, a new Galactic Legend is still one of my favorite things to write about. I will seek to keep the same high-quality content going as I continue the “best mods in SWGoH” series today with the Best Mods for The Mandalorian and Grogu.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The Mandalorian and Grogu joined the game during the Fall of 2026, as the headline unit of the four-week Era of The Mandalorian and Grogu, unlocked through the This Is Their Way event (see our Legendary Unlock Guides). The game describes them as “a dynamic duo who causes chaos no matter where they go, with The Mandalorian’s explosive attacking power and Grogu’s support,” and that sums up the kit well. Mando brings the damage, Grogu brings the Force, and together they lead the New Republic faction. If you saw the film, here is my take on The Mandalorian and Grogu (movie). Let’s take a look at how we want to focus the mod stat gains for The Mandalorian and Grogu in Galaxy of Heroes.
Note that I have learned that I get a bit wordy in these Best Mods articles, so as a result the TL;DR on mods for The Mandalorian and Grogu is below. I am also keeping the new(er) format on the recommendations below, which I hope continues to make these best mods articles easier to decipher.

Main Mod Stats to focus on…
The heart of this kit is Bound by Creed. At the start of battle and every other turn, The Mandalorian and Grogu can only use two Granted abilities: Force Splinter, which dispels the target’s buffs and hits it with Defense Down and Buff Immunity, and And Then the Young Protect the Old, which cleanses an ally and powers them up. Using either one grants a bonus turn. That means every turn Mando and Grogu take is really two, and the setup turn decides how hard the next attack lands. If Force Splinter came first, the second hit of Bring You In Warm or Cold always crits, ignores 50% of the target’s Defense and deals 20% more damage for every debuff on the enemy. That is why Speed comes first. More turns mean more Granted abilities, more bonus turns and more combos.
After Speed, it’s all about damage, and Critical Damage in particular. Bring You In Warm or Cold guarantees critical hits after Force Splinter, And Then the Young Protect the Old gives them Critical Damage Up when they target themselves, and Twin Strike gains 10% Turn Meter for every critical hit scored during the enemy’s turn. Twin Strike also adds 10% Offense (stacking) every time it’s used, so Offense keeps paying off as the battle goes on. Critical Chance on the secondaries is a nice bonus for those enemy-turn crits.
Health rounds it out. As a Galactic Legend, they get +10% Max Health and Max Protection per Relic Amplifier level and take 30% less damage, and the New Republic leadership adds 30% Max Health on top of that. The more Health they have, the more those bonuses multiply, and the longer they stay alive to reach their Ultimate, Fire Up the Drives. Since The Mandalorian and Grogu apply plenty of debuffs, from Defense Down and Buff Immunity to Burning, Fear and Healing Immunity, some Potency from the secondary mod stats is a nice thing to have. That said, the Potency gains from their Clan of Two leadership (30% Potency for New Republic allies, plus Potency Up at the start of each encounter) mean you do not need to go crazy on Potency, especially with a base Potency of 101%.
So the mod stats to focus on for The Mandalorian and Grogu are Speed first, then Critical Damage and Offense, with Health to keep them standing. When you start rolling secondaries, our mod slicing guide will help you decide which mods are worth the materials.
Which Mod Sets to use & Dev Recommendations for The Mandalorian and Grogu
Top players agree on this one: a Speed set and a Health set is the clear favorite, and well over half of the top Grand Arena rosters run The Mandalorian and Grogu that way. The next most popular option, an Offense set with a Health set, is a distant second, and it makes sense if your Mando and Grogu are already fast from secondaries. Top rosters are averaging about 560 Speed and 140,000 Health on them at around Relic 10, which is a good target. When the devs post their own mod recommendations, I will gladly compare and make any needed adjustments. Until then, here are my recommendations for the best mods for The Mandalorian and Grogu:
- Transmitter (Square): The Transmitter mod always has a primary focus on offense.

The Mandalorian and Grogu Zeta Order
The Mandalorian and Grogu have six Zeta abilities, and that is a lot of Zetas to farm on top of the cost of unlocking a Galactic Legend. If you can’t do them all at once, here is the order I would go in, ranked by how much each one changes what they can do in battle:
- Bound by Creed (Unique): This is the engine of the kit. It gives them Force Splinter and And Then the Young Protect the Old, the bonus turns that come with them, immunity to Ability Block, and the emergency cleanse, bonus turn and Damage Immunity the first time they drop below 50% Health. Every combo in the kit runs through this ability, so it comes first.
- Clan of Two (Leader): If you’re leading with The Mandalorian and Grogu, and you should be with New Republic, this is the next pick. It gives the whole team 30% Max Health, Mastery and Potency plus 30 Speed, applies On the Run every time an ally attacks out of turn, and adds a Contract that unlocks even more Speed and their Payout. If you only run them as an ally, move this one down the list.
- Bring You In Warm or Cold (Special): Their biggest hit. It deals AoE damage with Burning, follows up with a second attack that always crits after Force Splinter, piles 5 stacks of On the Run on the target, and can apply Armor Shred and Healing Immunity. This is where most of their damage comes from.
- The Old Protect the Young (Special): The team ability: AoE damage with Provoked, On the Run on every enemy, Heal Over Time and Retaliate for New Republic allies, plus role-based buffs like Taunt for tanks and cooldown reduction for supports. It also feeds their Ultimate Charge through Retaliate and counterattacks.
- Twin Strike (Basic): The basic you’ll use most often. It applies 2 stacks of On the Run, adds stacking Offense, speeds up the leader Contract and inflicts Fear after Force Splinter. It’s valuable, but the kit works without its final tier more easily than without the abilities above it.
- Galactic Legend (Unique): The same Galactic Legend unique every GL gets: reduced damage from percent-Health and massive damage effects, stun immunity, extra Health and Protection per Relic Amplifier level, and 30% less damage taken. It’s important, but it doesn’t change how they play, so it goes last.
Where to use The Mandalorian and Grogu
As a Galactic Legend, The Mandalorian and Grogu is built to lead the New Republic squad, including Adelphi Ranger, one of two Marquees of their Era. They’re also one of the eligible units for the upcoming Droid Destruction raid, themed on the climax of the film. For everything else a GL needs, see our Galactic Legend Requirements page.
