Another new Pirate unit has joined Galaxy of Heroes as we look at Vane mods today. During my time with Gaming Fans I started the “best mods” series of articles which turned out to be what put the site on the radar of the community and with EA Capital Games. While my days with Gaming Fans are well behind me, writing these mod guides continues to be a way for me to continue to enjoy Galaxy of Heroes, now almost a decade since I started playing. I will seek to keep the same high quality content going as I continue the “best mods in SWGoH” series today with the Best Mods for Vane.
One of the newest characters in Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes, Vane is a Marquee character who joined the game in late August 2025. A member of the new Pirate faction, Vane is a required character to unlock Pirate King Hondo Ohnaka, needed at Relic 7. Vane is a Dark Side Tank who is a member of the Scoundrel and Pirate factions. Let’s take a look at how we want to focus the mod stat gains for Vane in Galaxy of Heroes.
Note that I have learned that I get a bit wordy in these Best Mods articles, so as a result the TL;DR on mods for Vane is below. Also, I added a new(er) format on the recommendations below which I hop will help make these best mods articles easier to decipher.
Main Mod Stats to focus on…
Vane is a Tank, and Tanks need to be be thick to survive and eat up the enemy attacks so that they can keep their teammates clean from debuffs and hits and keep them alive. Typically, you want your Tank characters high in Health, Protection, Defense, Critical Avoidance and/or Tenacity, with each character having slightly different strengths and weaknesses. For Vane, you want him high in all of these as he has specific callouts for Defense (basic), Health (2nd special), Protection & Critical Avoidance (unique). In addition, with a Top 20 base Tenacity stat, building on this high number is wise to ensure he is as effective as possible on this new Pirate team led by Galactic Legend Hondo Ohnaka.
Which Mod Sets to use & Dev Recommendations for Vane
While the devs have stated that Health and Tenacity are the two mod sets to go after for Vane, I do not feel that Defense should be ignored. While a Defense set may not be warranted, ensuring that you have solid Defense secondaries is suggested. Personally, I went with a Health, Tenacity and Defense set, with a Tenacity-focused cross/plus mod, and Health primaries on the other three with options. Here are my recommendations for the best mods for the Vane:
- Transmitter (Square) – The Transmitter mod always has a primary focus on offense.
- Recommended Mod Type: Health
- Recommended Secondary Stats: speed, health, defense and protection or tenacity
- Receiver (Arrow) – The Receiver mod can have a primary focus on several stats including speed, critical avoidance, accuracy, health, protection, defense and offense.
- Recommended Mod Type: Tenacity mod, Health focus
- Recommended Secondary Stats: protection, tenacity, speed and defense
- Processor (Diamond) – The Processor is always going to have a primary focus on defense.
- Recommended Mod Type: Tenacity
- Recommended Secondary Stats: health, protection, defense & speed
- Holo-Array (Triangle) – The Holo-Array is a very specialized mod that can have a primary focus on critical chance, critical damage, health, protection, offense and defense.
- Recommended Mod Type: Health or Defense mod, Health focus
- Recommended Secondary Stats: protection, defense, speed and health or tenacity
- Data-Bus (Circle) – The Data-bus mod always has a primary focus on either health or protection.
- Recommended Mod Type: Health mod, Health or Protection focus
- Recommended Secondary Stats: health, protection, defense & speed
- Multiplexer (Plus) – The Multiplexer (plus or cross) mod can have a primary focus on potency, tenacity, health, protection, defense or offense.
