Imperial Remnant - SWGoH

SWGoH: Best Mods for the Imperial Remnant faction

Posted on July 30, 2024August 1, 2024 by ljcool110

As I continue to review how the Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes community consumes their content, I was always able to carve out a niche while at Gaming-fans.com with the Best Mods guides. Now that those days are behind me, I am working to keep the same kind of content going as I work to update the best SWGoH mods series to 2024 standards. While many of these older characters do not call for drastic mod strategy changes, the addition of new characters and Datacrons can change the way we use them or greatly enhance one stat over another. In addition, as new game modes or battles within them are added, there is an added emphasis on a specific faction, like the Imperial Remnant in the RoTE Territory Battle that we will review in this article. As a result, I am expanding upon the traditional per-character mods guide and allowing those to be the more in-depth guides while adding the following, a faction-based TL;DR of sorts for those who do not like all of my words and just want to know how to quickly mod their characters, one faction or team at a time.

Today I continue with the Imperial Remnant faction after seeing the Gungan mods guide do well. The Imperial Remnant tag did not get added to the game until characters from The Mandalorian Season 2 were added to SWGoH, and this faction is the one seeing the most growth in the second half of 2024. Recent additions of the Night Trooper and Death Trooper (Peridea) plus a old character in TIE Fighter Pilot all getting the Imperial Remnant tag are setting up what we all expect – a Galactic Legend Grand Admiral Thrawn addition in 2025. But for now we focus in on the five Imperial Remnant characters who work best under a Dark Trooper Moff Gideon lead – Scout Trooper, Death Trooper, Stormtrooper and Moff Gideon. This group of five has a Combat Mission on Mandalore in the RoTE Territory Battle and is a regular in Territory Wars, the GAC and more. Let’s take a Quick Look at each and, as always, for more specifics on each character click the links by their names to read more.

Dark Trooper Moff Gideon – Dark Trooper Moff Gideon leads the team and is required at Relic 8 on Mandalore, and the best mods for Dark Trooper Moff Gideon can depend on where and how he is being used. I have found a higher Health build to be much more effective in the Rise of the Empire Combat Mission mentioned above, but in standard gameplay he is best modded with high Protection. As a result go with a set of Speed mods and a set of Health mods, shooting for Protection primaries on the circle, triangle and cross/plus for most game modes and adjust as needed.

Scout Trooper – Scout Trooper is basically the key to this team working. Her ability to cleanse debuffs ends up being essential in the RotE Combat Mission on Mandalore, and you want her fast, potent and with some offense to hit harder. Go for a Speed set and a Potency set and try to get strong speed from the secondary stats as well.

Death Trooper – The lone Attacker on this team, the once irrelevant Death Trooper who was only used with Director Krennic, then revived to be good on Imperial Trooper teams, then rather meh again, is once again relevant. As an attacker you want strong offensive numbers and good speed to increase turns, plus Death Trooper can apply Daze on basic and Stun dazed opponents too, so Potency will definitely help a lot. I recommend an Offense set and either a CC or Potency set to go with it.

Stormtrooper – For years the Stormtrooper in SWGoH was about as effective as the Stormtroopers in the Original Trilogy – and by effective I mean worthless. But upgrades to the character from the improved Imperial Trooper synergy and then the addition of Lord Vader to SWGoH made the Stormtrooper much more valuable as a Tank, and modding Stormtrooper appropriately is important. Load him up with survivability in the forms of Defense first and Health and Protection after that based on the team’s leader for where he is used.

Moff Gideon – Moff Gideon has remained relevant in SWGoH since first being added in-game thanks to his crazy good base Speed which was, before the addition of the STAP and Tusken Chieftain, the fastest non-Galactic Legend in SWGoH for quite some time. His ability to remove TM from all enemies made him a pain to face and he remains relevant on Imperial Trooper teams and Imperial Remnant teams alike. When reviewing the best mods for Moff Gideon, Speed has to be atop the list no matter what and MG is a candidate for some of your fastest Speed mods available. Getting him around 360-370 Speed makes him a pain to deal with in any battle that does not include a Galactic Legend.
