The Legendary Character in the new-look Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes Era of 2025-2026 is Maul (Hate-Fueled), and it is time to review mods for this first Legendary Era unit. During my time with Gaming Fans I started the “best mods” series of articles which turned out to be what put the site on the radar of the community and with EA Capital Games. While my days with Gaming Fans are well behind me, I have been writing mod guides like this one since the early days of mods when they were added to SWGoH in 2018. Fortunately, writing these mod guides continues to be a way for me to continue to enjoy Galaxy of Heroes now that I have been playing this game for over a decade. I will seek to keep the same high quality content going as I continue the “best mods in SWGoH” series today with the Best Mods for Maul (Hate-Fueled).
The newest character in Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes, Maul (Hate-Fueled), aka Spider Legs Maul, is a Legendary character who joined the game in January 2026, and our unlocking Maul (Hate-Fueled) guide is live. Spider Legs Maul is a Dark Side Attacker who only fits into the Unaligned Force User faction. The version of Maul we see in The Clone Wars when we find that Maul is still alive after being sliced in half by Obi-Wan Kenobi in Episode I, let’s take a look at how we want to focus the mod stat gains for Maul (Hate-Fueled) in Galaxy of Heroes.
Note that I have learned that I get a bit wordy in these Best Mods articles, so as a result the TL;DR on mods for Maul (Hate-Fueled) is below. Also, I added a new(er) format on the recommendations below which I hope will help make these best mods articles easier to decipher.
Main Mod Stats to focus on…
Maul (Hate-Fueled) is the prize of the first Era in the new cadence in SWGoH, and possibly the biggest money grab ever by EA Capital Games. What started with Stormtrooper Luke seeming years ago, has progressed with IG-90, Yoda & Chewie, Asajj Ventress (Dark Disciple), Inquisitor Barriss and Darth Vader (Duel’s End). Used only in the new Coliseum game mode at the start, we found out several weeks into this new Coliseum/Era cadence that this new Maul (Hate-Fueled) not only needs SWGoH players to pay to level up each of the aforementioned character, but to get each to Era Level 85 to have a shot at a 7-star Maul (Hate-Fueled) upgrade.
Maul (Hate-Fueled) is expected to be part of a new team of Unaligned Force Users alongside The Stranger (Qimir), a recent Conquest unlock. Statistically speaking, his Physical Damage is in the top 33% of all SWGoH characters, but with a basic that can apply Fracture and a special called Howl of the Broken that grants him both Critical Damage Up and Offense Up, it is the use of these to setup his Relentless Madness special that is key. The Relentless Madness special deals Physical Damage to the enemy 4 times and has the potential to deal very significant damage, and with a Armor Penetration stat that is in the Top 10% of the game, modding him for either Offense of CD is a definite must. With a 61.96% base Critical Chance, I lean toward an Offense set, but adding CC in the mod secondaries is not a bad idea. This is further supported by his Always Remember, I am Fear unique that grants him +25% Offense for each non-Dark Side ally. Looking at the most common use in-game, if used under a The Stranger lead, allies gain 100% CC when they have Protection, otherwise they gain 100% Defense. He also converts all of his Protection into Max Health at the start of battle, and with mods handing out higher Protection stats than Health, Protection primaries are in play, especially with the circle (Data-Bus) mod.
Which Mod Sets to use & Dev Recommendations for Maul (Hate-Fueled)
The way these new Era Units are added to the game, we will not have any ability to use them for quite some time from the start of the Era outside of the Coliseum game mode. As a result of this, it will be over a month after unlocking Maul (Hate-Fueled) before he can really be used in other areas of SWGoH, which quite frankly, is ridiculous. When the devs chime in with their mod recommendations, I will gladly compare and make any needed adjustments, but until then, I see Maul (Hate-Fueled) modded for offensive stats as explained below.
- Transmitter (Square) – The Transmitter mod always has a primary focus on offense.
- Recommended Mod Type: Critical Chance
