The newest Droid and the second Era Unit Character in Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes is here in the form of IG-90. During my time with Gaming Fans I started the “best mods” series of articles which turned out to be what put the site on the radar of the community and with EA Capital Games. While my days with Gaming Fans are well behind me, I have been writing mod guides like this one since the early days of mods when they were added to SWGoH in 2018. Fortunately, writing these mod guides continues to be a way for me to continue to enjoy Galaxy of Heroes now that I have been playing this game for over a decade. I will seek to keep the same high quality content going as I continue the “best mods in SWGoH” series today with the Best Mods for Doctor Aphra.
Doctor Aphra was a December 2022 addition to SWGoH and, along with her murder droid partners BT-1 and 0-0-0 (aka Triple-Zero), the trio was set up for 3v3 Grand Arena and had a role in the Rise of the Empire Territory Battle. Like all characters who are left alone in Galaxy of Heroes, the game outgrew the Doctor Aphra team for the most part, with temporary Datacrons to boost her squad. But the December 2025 addition of IG-90 added a Tank droid with strong debuffs as we should see Doctor Aphra and her droids relevant again in 2026 once IG-90 can be used outside of the quite restrictive Coliseum game mode. In SWGoH, Doctor Aphra is a Dark Side Leader and Support character with the Scoundrel and Mercenary tags. At this time, we will take a look at what mod stat gains to use on Doctor Aphra to maximize her on your roster.
Note that I have learned that I get a bit wordy in these Best Mods articles, so as a result the TL;DR on mods for Doctor Aphra is below. Also, I added a new(er) format on the recommendations below which I hope will help make these best mods articles easier to decipher.
Main Mod Stats to focus on…
Doctor Aphra is designed to be used with BT-1, 0-0-0, IG-90 and a 5th character, likely another Dark Side droid. Her kit scales heavily with high Potency and Speed, making her debuff application, utility, and survivability stronger with strong mods and when used alongside her droid friends thanks to the new synergy with IG-90. Specifically, the Territory War Omicron on IG-90’s Dead or Alive? unique states that “Whenever IG-90 uses a Special ability and Doctor Aphra has 200 or more stacks of Siphon, IG-90 and Doctor Aphra recover 40% Health and Protection and gain 30% Offense (stacking) until the end of encounter.” Back in late 2022 I wrote that “Speed, Offense, CC/CD and survivability in the form of Protection and Health” were also essential to a highly effective Doctor Aphra. That remains true today, as the addition of IG-90 adds survivability and protection for Doctor Aphra and her attacker droids. Remember that Protection is incredibly valuable because Doctor Aphra gains 10% Max Protection with each use of her basic, so in longer battles, she becomes more survivable as the battle wears on and each stack of Translation grants the buffed ally +30% Max Health.
