During my time at Gaming Fans I started the “best mods” series of articles which turned out to be what put the site on the radar of the community and with EA Capital Games. While I enjoyed our brief time with a communicative Capital Games consistently working myself and the other SWGoH GameChangers, there was an inability to support that level of community engagement from within CG, so I became just another member of the community, only with a bit more of a public voice. Now that my days with Gaming Fans are well behind me, I will seek to keep the same kind of content going as I resume the “best mods in SWGoH” series today with the Best Mods for the Jedi Temple Guard.
The newest character in Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes, Temple Guard is the latest addition to the Jedi Vanguard faction. Temple Guard is one of the required characters to unlock Jedi Master Mace Windu, required at Relic 5, and will kick off a new Era Battle in SWGoH. In actual gameplay, Jedi Temple Guard is a Light Side Tank and is a member of the Galactic Republic, Jedi and Jedi Vanguard factions. Let’s take a look at how we want to focus the mod stat gains for Temple Guard in Galaxy of Heroes.
Note that I have learned that I get a bit wordy in these Best Mods articles, so as a result the TL;DR on mods for Jedi Temple Guard is below.
Main Mod Stats to focus on…
Speed is not going to be a main focus for Temple Guard, whose base Speed is just 153, and tanks are typically designed to defend their teammates and eat up enemy attacks. Since he Taunts to start the battle, adding Speed is not something I will be looking to do at all. You’re going to want to be sure to have some solid Potency on the Temple Guard, who starts with a base Potency of just 36%, to land Defense Down and Ability Block to control the battle. Survivability stats are the biggest area of focus on this character, as he starts with a base Protection of over 95k which is 6th highest in the game at the time of this writing, tied with other strong tanks Paz Vizsla and Scorch. His base Health is a solid 73k and his Armor stat is 12th highest in the game, and for each Relic level he gains an extra 10% Defense, meaning Protection and Defense are key to Temple Guard’s survivability. Critical Avoidance is also increased based on his Relic level, and he gains Protection Up and Taunt to start battles, so go all-in on the survivability stats to ensure he’s thick and difficult to defeat. Finally, his base Tenacity is just over 100%, but in today’s SWGoH you’re going to need more than that to ward off those detrimental effects we know as debuffs.
Modding Jedi Temple Guard for the Revenge of the Sith / Operation Knightfall Raid:
With the addition of the new Operation Knightfall Raid, which we’re still waiting for an official name for at this time, I am sure that mods for the Jedi Temple Guard will be an important thing to review. While the Jedi Vanguard team(s) should be led by Jedi Master Mace Windu, until he is released and details of the Raid are public it is hard to say if Temple Guard mods will change for the event. When the time comes we will update this information here to help the SWGoH community out in deciding on the best Temple Guard mods for the Raid.
Which Mod Sets to use & Dev Recommendations for Temple Guard
Jedi Temple Guard is a Light Side Tank, and arguments can be made to enhance all five survivability stats – Health, Protection, Defense, Critical Avoidance and Tenacity – via mods. Adding a little Potency is also a good move, so with all of this factored in, here are my recommendations for the best mods for Temple Guard:
- Transmitter (Square) – The Transmitter mod always has a primary focus on offense. For Temple Guard, you want to use a DEFENSE mod here and be sure to closely look at the secondary stats to ensure that you get a heavy secondary focus on protection, health, defense, and potency or tenacity.
- Receiver (Arrow) – The Receiver mod can have a primary focus on several stats including speed, critical avoidance, accuracy, health, protection, defense and offense. For Temple Guard, you want to use a HEALTH mod here with a primary focus on Protection, Defense or Critical Avoidance and a secondary focus on health, defense, protection and potency or tenacity.
- Processor (Diamond) – The Processor is always going to have a primary focus on defense. For Temple Guard, you want to use a DEFENSE mod here with a secondary focus on health, defense, protection and potency or tenacity.
- Holo-Array (Triangle) – The Holo-Array is a very specialized mod that can have a primary focus on critical chance, critical damage, health, protection, offense and defense. For Temple Guard, you want to use a HEALTH mod here with a primary focus on Protection or Defense and a secondary focus on health, defense, tenacity and protection.
- Data-Bus (Circle) – The Data-bus mod always has a primary focus on either health or protection, and for Temple Guard go with a DEFENSE/TENACITY mod with a protection focus for the primary. The secondary focus stats should be defense, protection, health and potency.
- Multiplexer (Plus) – The Multiplexer (plus or cross) mod can have a primary focus on potency, tenacity, health, protection, defense or offense. For Temple Guard, you want to use a DEFENSE/TENACITY mod here with a focus on Protection or Defense, making sure to have your mod sets complete. For the secondary stats look to add health, protection, defense and tenacity or potency.
