Now almost a year and a half since launching this site, my quest is to continue to review how the Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes community consumes their content and figure out ways to serve the community with strong content to help them better understand SWGoH. I was able to carve out a niche while running the Gaming Fans site with the Best Mods guides, but now that those days are behind me, I am working to evolve that content as I work to update the best SWGoH mods series to 2025 standards. While many older characters do not call for drastic mod strategy changes, the addition of new characters and Datacrons can change the way we use them or greatly enhance one stat over another. As a result, I am expanding upon the traditional per-character mods guide and allowing those to be the more in-depth guides while adding the following, a faction-based TL;DR of sorts for those who do not like all of my words and just want to know how to quickly mod their characters, one faction at a time.
Speaking of new characters who change the way the game is played today, the addition of four new Dark Side Clone Troopers is basically EA Capital Games saying “my bad” without admitting they screwed up Lord Vader the first time around. Well, for what it is worth, all is well that ends well, and Lord Vader is going to be ending a bunch of people’s dreams with his new team of Imperial Clone Troopers. This is a fantastic team in Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes in all areas of the game, theonly team to be used in the new Knightfall Era Battle and one of the main teams in the new Revenge of the Sith Raid.
In SWGoH this team is fairly straightforward, so let us take a look at how to mod this team and set the turn order to help you dominate the holotables in Galaxy of Heroes.
Lord Vader – We all know that the Galactic Legends have nearly double the Speed of all other characters, and with a base Speed of 390, a 10% bonus from a set of four Speed mods adds +39 to LV. Mods for Lord Vader should include a Speed set and either a Health or Potency set with as much Offense and CC as you can get.
CC-1119 “Appo” – The first member of the new Lord Vader Dark Side Clones team, CC-1119 “Appo” also joined the game with his own strong Datacron. With a base Speed near 190 that puts him in line for Speed set consideration right away, before even reviewing the rest of his kit and stats. But with Appo’s Relic upgrades impacting his Physical Damage, Critical Chance and Armor Penetration, an Offense set is also in play.
CX-2 – With base stats that really do not wow anyone, the ability to Disarm enemies and grant allies with Bonus Protection are the strengths of his kit, so CX-2 mods should be geared toward Speed and Health sets to get to his turns faster and increase survivability.
Disguised Clone Trooper – Like Appo and CX-2, you want DCT fast. In fact, our best mods for Disguised Clone Trooper article even states “Disguised Clone Trooper is one of the fastest non-Galactic Legends in Galaxy of Heroes. This automatically prequalifies him for a set of four Speed mods.”
RC-1262 “Scorch” – The taunting tank on this team, RC-1262 “Scorch” has a solid base speed of 169 but is designed not for Speed, but to eat up the enemy attacks. You want your tanks thick and able to resist debuffs, so Health, Protection, Defense and Tenacity are typically the way to go, but with Scorch be sure to focus in heavily on Defense and Health stats with mod sets from both types.
And because of the new Operation Knightfall / Revenge of the Sith Raid, since Lord Vader is not allowed in the Raid for some reason, I am including Grand Moff Tarkin below to ensure we cover all of the Lord Vader Dark Side Clone Trooper team, even when Lord Vader is not allowed to be included.
Grand Moff Tarkin – Once a character who was looking only to hoard Potency, the 2025 rework of GMT gives us a new take on how to maximize his attack power. Potency remains VERY important for Grand Moff Tarkin mods, but the debate now is whether to use a Speed set to get to turns faster, or an Offense set to boost his Special Damage in tandem with the Potency for the AoE.
Best Mods in SWGoH Disclaimer
As always, my modding disclaimer. When reviewing mods for the Lord Vader & his Imperial Clones in SWGoH, there is no perfect formula, but I am hopeful that this guide will help players all across the globe. A little more offense here or a thicker tank there can make a world of difference, and don’t think for a second that the Relic levels are not important. In the end, the goal of these modding guides is simply to help you dominate the holotables in Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes. May the Force Be With You!
