LEGO Set 75335 BD-1 – Review

Posted on May 7, 2025May 6, 2025 by ljcool110

LEGO set 75335, BD-1, is a unique and delightful addition to the LEGO Star Wars line, bringing to life one of the most beloved droids from the newer Star Wars media: BD-1 from the Star Wars Jedi video game series. With 1,062 pieces, this set offers both a satisfying build and a charming display model, especially for fans of Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor.

BD-1’s Role in the Jedi Video Games

BD-1 is more than just a helpful sidekick—he’s an emotional and practical companion to Cal Kestis, the protagonist of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (2019) and Jedi: Survivor (2023). Acting as Cal’s constant partner, BD-1 assists with hacking terminals, healing with stim canisters, scanning the environment, and generally providing companionship during Cal’s difficult journey to survive and resist the Empire’s purge of the Jedi.

The character’s charm lies in his personality: curious, brave, and expressive despite his small size and digital language. His design reflects this, with a head that tilts in emotive gestures and a compact, nimble body that makes him ideal for exploration. He’s become an instant fan favorite and represents the emotional heart of the Jedi series.

LEGO Build Experience

The 1,062-piece build is a pleasant mix of technique and creativity. While not overly complex, it features enough intricacies to keep experienced builders engaged. The set is aimed at ages 14+, which feels appropriate for its level of challenge. The inner structure is robust, with a strong central spine supporting BD-1’s legs and body, while the outer plates shape his rounded head and limbs.

One of the most rewarding parts of the build is the articulation. BD-1’s head can tilt and rotate, and his legs are posable to a limited degree. The head tilt, in particular, allows builders to display the droid with the same curious or friendly expressions seen in the game.

LEGO 75335 – Design and Detail

LEGO has done a fantastic job capturing BD-1’s distinct design. The model stands about 12.5 inches (31 cm) tall, with a carefully detailed head that includes trans-red eye pieces and antennae. His white-and-red color scheme is faithful to his game appearance, with printed elements and greebling that mimic the small droid’s panels and lights.

A particularly nice touch is the transparent display stand, which supports BD-1 in a dynamic pose without being visually obtrusive. The set also includes a data plaque with BD-1’s specs, making it feel like a miniature UCS-style display model. Additionally, there’s a tiny BD-1 minifigure included, which is a great nod for minifigure collectors and adds a sense of scale.

Final Verdict for LEGO 75335

Pros:

  • Faithful recreation of a beloved character from the Jedi game series.

  • Great articulation and expressiveness.

  • Excellent display presence with a UCS-style plaque.

  • Enjoyable and engaging build process.

  • Inclusion of a BD-1 minifigure adds charm.

Cons:

  • Limited play features—this is more a display piece than a toy.

  • Legs have limited mobility (for stability reasons).

LEGO 75335 – Rating: 9/10

LEGO 75335 BD-1 is a must-have for fans of Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor. It stands out not just as a great Star Wars model, but as a celebration of the emotional connection many players felt with BD-1 in the games. Its clean design, expressive features, and display-friendly build make it one of the more unique and heartwarming entries in recent Star Wars LEGO history.
