As you probably saw in-game today or even on the Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes Reddit, there is a new Lightspeed Bundle in the store. This amazing deal, priced at just $4.99 USD, allows players to upgrade one specific character all the way to Relic 9 – Coruscant Underworld Police. Yes, Coruscant Underworld Police, aka CUP, the least valuable character in SWGoH over the games 8+ year history, is available to be maxed out for just $5 – and below is why I bought the bundle. Quite appropriate on the day that so many in the USA like to play tricks on one another…
Before I get into my reasoning, for those that do not know, I started playing SWGoH less than 30 days after the game’s launch. In that 8+ years I have logged into the game every day (over 3k consecutive days!), gotten all of my daily rewards over 99.9% of the time, and invested countless hours (and 💰 😳) into the game. I currently sit at 13.8 million Galactic Power.
SWGoH is a Collector’s Game
To start, there is an element of being a collector’s game with SWGoH. While this is not like Pokemon Go! with the “better catch them all” slogan, there is something to having all of the “toys” available to play with and I have consistently had every character unlocked within a month of their release for several years now. Coruscant Underworld Police is yet another one of those toys, and while he has almost zero use, I only had 15 characters who have not been upgraded to Relics before purchasing the $5 CUP Lightspeed Bundle. Now I have just 14 remaining.
Future Game Mode Needs
Who is to say that the next bonus planet in the Rise of the Empire Territory battle does not need a Relic 9 CUP in the platoons? Honestly I would not put it past EA Capital Games to do this, especially now that they offered the $5 CUP Lightspeed Bundle. With this purchase, if my Guild ever did need a Relic 9 CUP, now I do not have to pay much, much more for Relic materials as I now have one less character to worry about maxing out.
Unlimited Power!
It’s the way of the Sith, right? I am not going to lie, the thought of adding to my Galactic Power, while not typically a great metric to focus on, crossed my mind. The boost is not that significant – going from about 16k power to 30k power – but I would be lying if I said that this did not have some impact on my decision.
So there you have it. I did it. I bought the $5 CUP Lightspeed Bundle. Do I feel great about it? No, no I do not. But do I feel bad about it? Not really. In a game like Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes there are always ways to spend $$$ and the low price tag was the key. At $10 or more I guarantee I would not have pulled the trigger, but when CG requires a Relic 9 CUP for something in the next year, look back at this post and remember the visionary that I am. lol
