The Star Wars universe is set to reintroduce two of its most iconic bounty hunters—Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane—in Tales of the Underworld, the third animated anthology series premiering on Disney+ on May 4, 2025.
A Return to the Galaxy’s Dark Corners
Following Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Empire, this latest installment shifts the focus to the galaxy’s outlaws, mercenaries, and survivors. Tales of the Underworld consists of six episodes that revisit Ventress and Bane in the aftermath of the Clone Wars and the Empire’s rise to power.
Once a feared Sith assassin, Ventress is now on a new path, given another chance at life. The trailer shows her cloaked and wielding her yellow lightsaber, locked in battle with a red-bladed opponent while protecting a Padawan struggling to survive after Order 66. Meanwhile, Cad Bane remains as ruthless and calculating as ever, but this time, he finds himself in a standoff with a former ally-turned-marshal.
Trailer and Poster Reveal
The trailer offers a glimpse into the high-stakes drama awaiting fans. Ventress is seen in hiding, still a target, while Bane stands in the middle of a tense blaster showdown—steelpeckers circling ominously above, echoing his infamous duel in The Book of Boba Fett.
The official poster introduces additional characters, including Clone Wars alum Latts Razzi. Maintaining the signature visual style of the previous Tales anthologies, this time the artwork highlights a credit symbol, following the Jedi and Imperial insignias from earlier series.
Cast and Crew
Nika Futterman and Corey Burton return to voice Ventress and Bane, joined by Artt Butler, Lane Factor, AJ LoCascio, Clare Grant, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, and Eric Lopez.
The series is helmed by Star Wars veteran Dave Filoni, who serves as creator, supervising director, and executive producer. Athena Yvette Portillo and Carrie Beck also executive produce, with Josh Rimes as co-executive producer. Alex Spotswood takes on the role of senior producer, while Matt Michnovetz handles writing duties.
With its gripping stories of survival, betrayal, and redemption, Tales of the Underworld promises to explore the darker corners of the Star Wars galaxy like never before.
