As I continue to review how the Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes community consumes their content, I was always able to carve out a niche while at Gaming-fans.com with the Best Mods guides. Now that those days are behind me, I am working to keep the same kind of content going as I work to update the best SWGoH mods series to 2025 standards. While many of these older characters do not call for drastic mod strategy changes, the addition of new characters and Datacrons can change the way we use them or greatly enhance one stat over another. As a result, I am expanding upon the traditional per-character mods guide and allowing those to be the more in-depth guides while adding the following, a faction-based TL;DR of sorts for those who do not like all of my words and just want to know how to quickly mod their characters, one faction at a time.
Today I continue with the Galactic Republic faction, but specifically with Jedi Master Kenobi’s team. Led by a Galactic Legend, this team is one of the game strongest and has some of the best survivability of any team in SWGoH. This team also had an almost immediate lifter unit in Commander Ahsoka Tano (CAT), and while the team is rather consistent in how it is used, the tank character can change in different situations. Let’s take a Quick Look at each character included on JMK’s Galactic Republic team.
Jedi Master Kenobi – On each of these team-specific mod guides, it all starts with the Galactic Legend on the team (when applicable) and for this time we have Jedi Master Kenobi, aka JMK. With a base Speed of 385, JMK is the 4th fastest character in SWGoH, and I have been using a Speed set on him since unlocking him when we was released. With a Speed of over 560, my Jedi Master Kenobi is getting to his turns quickly and able to heal his team and call CAT to assist his attacks over and over again. Because he grants Protection Up so frequently a Health set will enhance that Protection Up because of the mechanics of the game.
Commander Ahsoka Tano – Commander Ahsoka Tano, aka CAT, should be one of of the 5 fastest non-Galactic Legend characters on your team if you rely on the JMK team regularly. CAT has a base Speed of 190, one of the fastest non-Galactic Legends in the game, so placing one of your fastest Speed sets on her is the way to go. While her base stats are not awesome, she gains +50% Health and Defense and shares those bonuses with her Light Side allies, making her solid thanks to JMK’s leadership, so adding a Health set with super fast secondary Speed gains will help you tremendously as you strive for the best mods for Commander Ahsoka Tano.
Padme Amidala – A former Galactic Republic team leader, Padme took on a new role when JMK was added to SWGoH. Her special abilities to cleanse and call allies to mass-assist make her valuable on this incredibly strong team, and Health should be your top priority from mods. I have a fast Padme – 294 Speed – but have a very strong focus on Health using 6 Health mods and Health primaries on the circle, triangle and plus mod. I do have a Speed focus on the arrows but it is loaded with great secondary stats, but either a Speed or Health focus will work.
Ahsoka Tano (Snips) – The value of Ahsoka Tano (Snips) on the JMK Galactic Republic team is her ability to dispel buffs on use of her basic and her assists of Galactic Republic ally special attacks. The ability to dispel enemy buffs makes this team so effective in every facet of the game and her Protection Up from her special attack pairs nicely with JMK’s leadership. With Snips attacking frequently from assists and a very high base Physical Critical Chance, I use a Critical Damage set and a Health set and do not worry much about Speed, coming in with Snips at just 228 Speed on my team.
General Kenobi – Typically the most-used tank on the JMK team, General Kenobi has strong base survivability stats and built-in added survivability from his unique through gaining foresight. The combination of the Protection Up from Jedi Master Kenobi’s leadership and his survivability works very well together, and using an all-Health strategy or a Health and Defense modding strategy can work well, provided you get survivability and speed from your secondary mod stats.
Mace Windu – Mace Windu is another tank that is commonly used on the JMK team, especially in Territory Wars because of the Omicron upgrade on his unique. While Windu has less impressive base stats than General Kenobi, the ability to gain Resilient Defense, apply Shatterpoint and recover Protection give him significant value. Focusing in on Health mods and staying away from Defense is your best bet as you want Health and Protection on Mace Windu to make him as tanky as possible.
Plo Koon – Typically the tank on the JMK Galactic Republic team will be either General Kenobi or Mace Windu, but a late 2024 Datacron for Plo Koon made him instantly relevant in Territory Wars and the Grand Arena Championships. The pilot of an important Galactic Republic ship, Plo Koon is a Relic 8 requirement for Galactic Legend Ahsoka Tano making him more viable across the board now. The ability to add Defense Up and dispel with his basic are what make Plo Koon valuable, and while his Datacron was quite a powerful one, the here today, gone tomorrow nature of Datacrons makes it hard to get too excited about only getting the short term gain. While his base survivability stats are not very good like Mace Windu’s, the best mods for Plo Koon are similar – Health sets focusing on adding all survivability.
