As more characters are added to SWGoH, we cannot ignore how older characters are impacted and how the game continues to evolve. Today I take a look at a newer character in Galaxy of Heroes, Dark Trooper Moff Gideon. Years ago I launched Gaming-fans.com and started the “best mods” series of articles which turned out to be what put the site on the radar of the community and with EA Capital Games. As a member of the SWGoH GameChangers, the Website got even more attention as I attempted to expand into other areas of the game and even other games, constantly struggling to find the balance in the Force needed to do so. While my days with Gaming-fans.com are now behind me, I am working to keep building on what I saw as my strength all along – the “best mods in SWGoH” series as today I review the last character I wrote about for that site in the Best Mods for Dark Trooper Moff Gideon in SWGoH.
Here is the SWGoH explanation of Dark Trooper Moff Gideon: “Imperial Remnant Leader that sacrifices his weakest allies to stay alive and controls the battle with insight.” The main antagonist of the 3rd Season of The Mandalorian, Moff Gideon was able to build his own Dark Trooper suit. In SWGoH, he was the prize of a 3-month Conquest series and in-game Dark Trooper Moff Gideon is a Dark Side Tank who is also a member of the Empire and Imperial Remnant faction leader.

Main Mod Stats to focus on…
Dark Trooper Moff Gideon is a tank with fantastic survivability in SWGoH. His Max Health is 15th overall and Max Protection ranked #4 overall from all characters in Galaxy of Heroes. He can Stun, remove Turn Meter, grant allies Accuracy Up and Defense Up and recover Health and Protection from his abilities and has added Max Health, Max Protection, Defense and Critical Avoidance from his unique. Meanwhile his leader ability adds CC, CD, Offense and Defense to allies and more. As a result of this, and the power of his kit which means the use of his abilities are quite important, the main mod stats to focus on are survivability-related – Health, Protection and Defense – along with Speed.
In the Rise of the Empire Territory Battle, there is a Dark Trooper Moff Gideon combat mission on Mandalore that requires him at Relic 8 and is best fought with a full team of Imperial Remnant units. In that battle specifically, I remodded DTMG for higher Health and Defense using some of the best mods in my inventory. While this goes against the high Protection theme set below, I feel it is important to share given it works quite well for this battle. A few key stats from my remod: 126k Health, 92k Protection, 286 Speed, 94% Tenacity, 71.8% Armor, 71.3% Resistance.
Which Mod Sets to use & Dev Recommendations
As I have said many times before, the developers and I tend to agree on new characters and Dark Trooper Moff Gideon was a 2024 addition. When you understand how to use him in battle with a team of Imperial Remnant characters he can be quite fun, almost giving a Nightsister feel of never being counted out until he is dead himself. He pairs incredibly well with Scout Trooper and Death Trooper, and is quite a powerful character in SWGoH.
Here is what I am recommending for the best mods for Dark Trooper Moff Gideon:

- Transmitter (Square) – The Transmitter mod always has a primary focus on offense. For Dark Trooper Moff Gideon, you want to use a HEALTH mod here and be sure to closely look at the secondary stats to ensure that you get a heavy secondary focus on speed, protection, health and defense.
- Receiver (Arrow) – The Receiver mod can have a primary focus on several stats including speed, critical avoidance, accuracy, health, protection, defense and offense. For Dark Trooper Moff Gideon, you want to use a or SPEED mod here with a primary focus on speed and a secondary focus on protection, health and defense.
- Processor (Diamond) – The Processor is always going to have a primary focus on defense. For Dark Trooper Moff Gideon, you want to use a SPEED mod here with a secondary focus on speed, protection, health and defense.
- Holo-Array (Triangle) – The Holo-Array is a very specialized mod that can have a primary focus on critical chance, critical damage, health, protection, offense and defense. For Dark Trooper Moff Gideon, you want to use a SPEED mod here with a primary focus on Defense (see above) and a secondary focus on speed, protection, health and defense.
- Data-Bus (Circle) – The Data-bus mod always has a primary focus on either health or protection, and Dark Trooper Moff Gideon benefits from both stats, so use a HEALTH mod with a secondary focus on speed, protection, health and defense.
- Multiplexer (Plus) – The Multiplexer (plus or cross) mod can have a primary focus on potency, tenacity, health, protection, defense offense. For Dark Trooper Moff Gideon, you want to use a SPEED mod here with a focus on Protection, making sure to have your mod sets complete. For the secondary stats, look to add speed, protection, health and defense.
