A new Conquest unit joins Galaxy of Heroes and it is time to review the best mods for SM-33. During my time at Gaming-fans.com I started the “best mods” series of articles which turned out to be what put the site on the radar of the community and with EA Capital Games. While I enjoyed our brief time with a communicative Capital Games consistently working myself and the other SWGoH GameChangers, there was an inability to support that level of community engagement from within CG, so I became just another member of the community, only with a bit more of a public voice. Now that my days with Gaming Fans are well behind me, I will seek to keep the same kind of content going as I resume the “best mods in SWGoH” series today with the Best Mods for SM-33.
One of the newest characters in Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes, SM-33 is the prize of the May, June & July 2025 Conquest season. A member of the new Pirate faction, SM-33 is expected to work alongside other members of the new Pirate faction, including Captain Ithano, Quiggold & the Pirate Clone Trooper Kix. While the 5th member of this team is TBA, for now, we know that SM-33 is a Dark Side Attacker who is a member of the Droid, Scoundrel and Pirate factions. Let’s take a look at how we want to focus the mod stat gains for SM-33 in Galaxy of Heroes.
Note that I have learned that I get a bit wordy in these Best Mods articles, so as a result the TL;DR on mods for SM-33 is below.
Main Mod Stats to focus on…
As an Attacker, SM-33 has the ability to do significant damage to enemies and inflict impactful debuffs. He has the ability to inflict Ability Block, Stagger, Daze, Buff Immunity, Stagger and Damage Over Time to enemies while also regaining his own Health with his Limb From Limb special. He gains +10% Max Health and Offense for each Scoundrel ally at the start of battle, doubled if they are also a Pirate, so emphasizing both is a must. Staying on the topic of Offense, he has a Max Physical Damage of 7,620 at Relic 9 and can hit an enemy 6 times with his Limb From Limb special. On the survivability side, in addition to Health, SM-33 benefits from added Defense gaining Defense Up from his Forearm Bucklers special and at the start of each encounter, and he can’t be instantly defeated and he receives 30% less damage when targeted by an enemy with the Defense Up buff.
Which Mod Sets to use & Dev Recommendations for SM-33
SM-33 is an Attacker with some nice defensive boosts built into his kit. When it comes to the best SM-33 mods, the devs recommend Offense and Health sets. This is all subject to be adjusted as other Pirates are added to SWGoH, but for now there is no reason to go against the grain. As a result, my recommendations for the best mods for the Pirate Droid SM-33 are the following:
- Transmitter (Square) – The Transmitter mod always has a primary focus on offense. For SM-33, you want to use a HEALTH mod here and be sure to closely look at the secondary stats to ensure that you get a heavy secondary focus on speed, offense, potency or health.
- Receiver (Arrow) – The Receiver mod can have a primary focus on several stats including speed, critical avoidance, accuracy, health, protection, defense and offense. For SM-33 use an OFFENSE mod here with a primary focus on speed and a secondary focus on offense, health and potency.
- Processor (Diamond) – The Processor is always going to have a primary focus on defense. For SM-33, you want to use a OFFENSE mod here with a secondary focus on speed, offense, health and potency.
- Holo-Array (Triangle) – The Holo-Array is a very specialized mod that can have a primary focus on critical chance, critical damage, health, protection, offense and defense. For SM-33, you want to use a OFFENSE mod here with a primary focus on Critical Damage and a secondary focus on speed, offense, defense and potency or health.
- Data-Bus (Circle) – The Data-bus mod always has a primary focus on either health or protection, and for SM-33 go with a OFFENSE mod with a health focus for the primary. The secondary focus stats should be speed, offense, defense and potency.
- Multiplexer (Plus) – The Multiplexer (plus or cross) mod can have a primary focus on potency, tenacity, health, protection, defense or offense. For SM-33, you want to use a HEALTH mod here with a focus on Offense, making sure to have your mod sets complete. For the secondary stats look to add speed, offense, defense and health or potency.
