Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes has for years been a very straightforward game, placing standalone characters in the hands of users to compete against the collections of other players. One of the most unique characters ever added in SWGoH is Threepio & Chewie, a duo we saw together briefly in Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. Today we take a look at Threepio & Chewie in the latest in my series of “best mods in SWGoH” articles which put my old site on the radar of the community and with EA Capital Games. Over the years I have written literally hundreds of mod guides, including almost all of the original best mods guides over at Gaming-fans.com. Now that my days with Gaming Fans are behind me, I am working to keep the same kind of content going as I resume the “best mods” series today with the Best Mods for IG-12 & Grogu.
After C-3PO is lured into a trap by stormtroopers and dismantled by the Empire, Chewbacca discovers his broken parts in a junk pile and tries to reassemble him in The Empire Strikes Back. While imprisoned, Chewbacca attempts to put C-3PO back together, though the droid remains partially disassembled and malfunctioning for much of the sequence. In SWGoH, the combo of Threepio & Chewie is classified as an Attacker, Rebel, and Droid on the Light Side, and first appeared in-game during the Cloud City scene while unlocking Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker, and features a kit that closely resembles that battle. Now, let’s explore the best mods to enhance the abilities of Threepio & Chewie in Galaxy of Heroes.
Note that I have been told that I can get a bit long-winded when writing these mod guides. As a result, if you simply want the TL;DR on how to mod Threepio & Chewie, it is below.
Main Mod Stats to focus on…
Threepio & Chewie can be a true asset to your team, especially if the Commander Luke Skywalker team is important to your roster. In addition, he has value in the Wookie combat mission on Kashyyyk in the RotE Territory Battle. With a base Speed of 168, Threepio & Chewie is not terribly fast and, despite being an attacker, is not a character I would suggest using a Speed set on. Because he is an attacker, you want Threepio & Chewie hitting hard in all game modes, so a set of four Offense or Critical Damage mods is a must. The 2-mod set to accompany that set is the real question, as players bounce between Tenacity, Critical Chance, Health and more. Potency will help him apply Evasion Down and Blind to make his attacks even more effective. Keeping high Speed on this character is important, as is adding significant Offense, CC, Potency and Tenacity.
Which Mod Sets to use & Dev Recommendations for Threepio & Chewie:
Threepio & Chewie is an offensive-minded attacker who can hit hard if modded well. Here is what I am recommending for the best mods for Threepio & Chewie:
- Transmitter (Square) – The Transmitter mod always has a primary focus on offense. For Threepio & Chewie, you want to use a HEALTH or TENACITY mod here and be sure to closely look at the secondary stats to ensure that you get a heavy secondary focus on speed, offense, potency and critical chance or tenacity.
- Receiver (Arrow) – The Receiver mod can have a primary focus on several stats including speed, critical avoidance, accuracy, health, protection, defense and offense. For Threepio & Chewie, you want to use a OFFENSE mod here with a primary focus on Speed and a secondary focus on offense, potency, critical chance and tenacity.
- Processor (Diamond) – The Processor is always going to have a primary focus on defense. For Threepio & Chewie, you want to use a OFFENSE mod here with a secondary focus on speed, offense, critical chance and potency or tenacity.
- Holo-Array (Triangle) – The Holo-Array is a very specialized mod that can have a primary focus on critical chance, critical damage, health, protection, offense and defense. For Threepio & Chewie, you want to use a OFFENSE mod here with a primary focus on Health and a secondary focus on speed, offense, potency and critical chance or tenacity.
- Data-Bus (Circle) – The Data-bus mod always has a primary focus on either health or protection, so use an HEALTH or TENACITY mod with a Health primary as you want as much Health on Threepio & Chewie as possible. The secondary focus stats should be speed, offense, potency and critical chance.
- Multiplexer (Plus) – The Multiplexer (plus or cross) mod can have a primary focus on potency, tenacity, health, protection, defense offense. For Threepio & Chewie, you want to use a OFFENSE mod here with a Health focus, making sure to have your mod sets complete. For the secondary stats, look to add speed, offense, potency and tenacity.
