Years ago I started Gaming-fans.com and started the “best mods” series of articles which turned out to be what put the site on the radar of the community and with EA Capital Games. As a member of the SWGoH GameChangers, the Website got even more attention as I attempted to expand into other areas of the game and even other games, constantly struggling to find the balance in the Force needed to do so. While my days with Gaming-fans.com are now behind me, I am working to keep building on what I saw as my strength all along – the “best mods in SWGoH” series as today I review the Best Mods for Gungan Phalanx in SWGoH.
Here is the SWGoH explanation of the generic Gungan Phalanx: “Gungan Phalanx is a Tank who shields his allies and assists them when they are attacked instead of him.” The Gungan Phalanx starts off with the 2nd highest Armor stat in the game, a Top 40 Health stat, a Top 30 Protection stat and solid Tenacity and Resistance stats as well. Outside of the Armor, these other stats are strong, however not eye-popping. But it is the combination of them all together that stands out to me.
Given what I expect from the turn order of the Gungans as I detailed in the best mods for Gungan Boomadier, the Gungan Phalanx will be the 5th and final member of the Gungan team to take a turn, likely just after Jar Jar Binks. With all of this in mind, check the stats you are gaining and line up the Speed of your characters to ensure you get the optimal turn order for your Gungans to maximize their effectiveness.

Main Mod Stats to focus on…
As I stated in the best mods for the Gungans in SWGoH article, Health and Tenacity are both easy choices and a Defense set should be considered as well. Boosting his Protection from mods will be key as Gungan Phalanx gains 2% Max Protection every time he uses an ability when taunting. While the arrow mod could be a Protection or Speed focus, the circle, triangle and plus/cross mod should all be Protection as the primary stat gained.
Which Mod Sets to use & Dev Recommendations for Gungan Phalanx:
As I have said many times before, the developers and I rarely disagree on new characters. For the Gungan Phalanx the developers are suggesting Health and Tenacity mod sets which leaves it open to interpretation on which should have two sets and which should have one. With Health mods being more readily available, I think most will go with two Health sets, but a Defense set is not to be overlooked. Here is what I am recommending for the best mods for the Gungan Phalanx:

- Transmitter (Square) – The Transmitter mod always has a primary focus on offense. For Gungan Phalanx, you want to use a HEALTH/TENACITY mod here and be sure to closely look at the secondary stats to ensure that you get a heavy secondary focus on protection, health, defense and tenacity or speed.
- Receiver (Arrow) – The Receiver mod can have a primary focus on several stats including speed, critical avoidance, accuracy, health, protection, defense and offense. For Gungan Phalanx, you want to use a HEALTH mod here with a primary focus on protection and a secondary focus on speed, health, defense and tenacity.
- Processor (Diamond) – The Processor is always going to have a primary focus on defense. For Gungan Phalanx, you want to use a HEALTH/TENACITY mod here with a secondary focus on protection, health, defense and tenacity or speed.
- Holo-Array (Triangle) – The Holo-Array is a very specialized mod that can have a primary focus on critical chance, critical damage, health, protection, offense and defense. For Gungan Phalanx, you want to use a HEALTH mod here with a primary focus on Protection and a secondary focus on protection, health, defense and tenacity or speed.
- Data-Bus (Circle) – The Data-bus mod always has a primary focus on either health or protection, and Gungan Phalanx benefits greatly from a high Protection stat, so use a HEALTH/DEFENSE mod with a Protection primary. The secondary focus stats should be protection, health, defense and tenacity or speed.
- Multiplexer (Plus) – The Multiplexer (plus or cross) mod can have a primary focus on potency, tenacity, health, protection, defense offense. For Gungan Phalanx, you want to use a HEALTH/DEFENSE mod here with a Protection focus, making sure to have your mod sets complete. For the secondary stats, look to add protection, health, defense and tenacity or speed.
